Glazed stoneware. Sculptural Ufo style lamp bases, blue glaze with olive green / blue colour effects.
Model Nr 1070, manufactured by Søholm Stentøj (Soholm pottery) on the island of Bornholm, Denmark.
Søholm Stentøj, which means Soholm’s sandstone, was founded in 1835 by Herman Sonne Wolffsen and Edvard Sonne. The name Søholm, comes from the factory where the two founders were employed, a pottery near Copenhagen, in 1828-1839. It was the oldest factory operating in Bornholm, a Danish island off the south coast of Sweden, until it closed in 1996.
In the middle of the 20th century, Søholm produced a wide range of stoneware in various patterns and shapes. Several Designers worked for Søholm Stentøj as Einar Johansen, Maria Philippi, Noomi Backhausen among others.
The lamps are signed with the manufacturer’s mark.
