František Vízner ( March 9, 1936 Prague – July 1 , 2011 ) was an important Czech artist , glass artist, academic sculptor and designer.
František Vízner was one of the most prominent glass artists of his era. In the years 1962 – 1967 , he worked as a designer at the Sklo Union glass factory in Dubí, where he mainly designed shapes and models for pressed glass products. In the 1970s, he worked in the now defunct glass factory in Škrdlovice as the chief artist, where he mainly designed hand-blown metallurgical glass . From 1977 until the end of his life, he devoted himself to free creation, where he excelled especially in the field of cutting shaped glass, when vases and bowls were among his most popular creations.
