Stunning example of Norwegian MCM functional design by Will Joansson for Hadeland Glassworks.

In the 1950s and 1960s, Willy Johansson was one of the Norway´s leading glass designers. His works are characterized by an organic and soft design approach.  Together with Arne Jon Jutrem, Hermann Bongard and Severin Brørby, Johansson set a new standard for Norwegian art glass. Around 1948, their first experiments began. In the early days, they were inspired by both Swedish and Italian art glass, and it was his father, the master glassblower Johan Wilhelm Johansson, who blew the glass in close collaboration with the designers.  The art glass in the so-called K series was shown for the first time around 1950. Johansson designed a number of objects in the series. Some of them have become important exponents of Norwegian design during the Scandinavian design period from 1950 to 1970.
